As a young man I wanted to be one thing: a writer. My adult life caused a pause in my writing pursuit. However, in 2008, some forced solitude brought that dream back to reality. I began writing for a wide variety of publications and, after a decade of silence, I started crafting poems.
I published a volume of my 2008 - 2012 writing called Choosing an Afterlife in 2012. I am collecting my outdoors related poems on a blog called First Drafts here on I Write Arkansas. The revised poems will eventually become my next volume of poetry. All the poems will be outdoors and Arkansas related.
I love following Instagram accounts that produce absolutely beautiful meals over open fires and bushcraft stoves in front of equally beautiful mountainous landscapes. And I've always thought that I would do something very similar on my first over overnight backpack trip. However, now that I am planning a trip, my ideas for food have been shrinking down to a much shorter goal:
Keep myself from going to bed hungry.
